It is not your job to get people to read your script.Â
Â
Your job is to connect with people and give them the opportunity to read your script.Â
Who am I?Â
I’m Julia - I’m a Los Angeles-based screenwriter (ABC, CBS, Amazon), writing coach, and postpartum doula/lactation educator (bet you didn’t see that one coming).Â
I started my career in entertainment as a development assistant - meaning, I read a GREAT MANY scripts, fielded emails, gatekept my bosses :) and learned a TON about how a script goes from a pdf getting emailed around to money in the writer’s bank account to show on your TV screen.Â
During the 2023 writers’ strike, I staved off credit card debt (kind of) by teaching and coaching - I am now a sought-after screenwriting coach with a methodology for coaching screenwriters to overcome procrastination, writer’s block, and career stagnation. My coaching has been described “a magical drug,” “a godsend,” “perceptive as hell” and “legit brilliant.”Â
